On a fine Thursday of April, the man identified as Mr.Manoj Yadav checked into the Jolly Hotel near Ekawah railway station. By the following day, he was found hanging in his hotel room. The Hotel staff alerted the authorities when he did not emerge from his room, and the police, led by SP (CITY), Abhay Nath Tripathi, launched an inquiry.
Yadav, who is a resident of Auraiya district, was employed with a cement company. According to his family, he had left for Kota but stepped in Etawah. Hours before his body was discovered, Yadav sent a video message to his family, detailing his emotional and mental turmoil, which eventually led to his sudden suicide.
In the video, he accused his wife, Priya Yadav, and her family of consistent mental harassment. Yadav alleged that Priya whom he had been in a relationship for seven years before marriage in 2023, became pregnant after securing a teaching job in Bihar two months ago. However, her mother reportedly forced her to have an abortion. He further claimed that his in-laws took possession of his wife’s jewelry and made unreasonable demands post-marriage.
In the video, he accused his wife, Priya Yadav, and her family of consistent mental harassment. Yadav alleged that Priya, with whom he had been in a relationship for seven years before marrying in 2023, became pregnant after securing a teaching job in Bihar two months ago. One of his most serious allegations was the threat of false dowry cases. He claimed his wife demanded that he transfer ownership of his house and property to her, threatening to implicate his family in dowry-related legal troubles if he refused. He also accused her father, Manoj Kumar, of lodging false complaints and her brother of issuing death threats. This led to daily conflicts and emotional distress compounded by what he perceived as his wife’s family fully backing her actions.
Towards the end of his video, he emotionally apologizes to his parents and makes a heartbreaking request that justice be served. His ashes should be discarded in the drain. He also lamented the lack of protective laws for men in such situations, stating that he might not have taken this harsh action. and drastic steps, if there were legal safeguards for men facing domestic abuse or blackmail.
His death became a rallying point for men’s rights activists who argue that he legal system disproportionately favors women in marital disputes, often leaving men vulnerable to misuse of laws. As the investigation proceeds, the public awaits comments from Priya Yadav and her family. Meanwhile, this incident has reignited a complex and sensitive debate around gender justice, the misuse of protective laws, and the urgent need for legal reforms to address both women’s and men’s rights with seriousness.
